How effectively does my body absorb the collagen from your broth versus traditional collagen supplements?Updated a year ago
Bone broth is a great natural source of collagen. It’s also rich in protein and amino acids. These provide a wide range of health benefits, from supporting gut health to helping improve joint pain. Also, many of our customers report that it’s helped make their skin more firm and hydrated, and strengthened their hair and nails. Unlike collagen supplements, bone broth also contains hydrating electrolytes, vitamins and minerals.
In terms of bioavailability (absorption) of the collagen, our collagen is not processed like a collagen supplement (for example, a peptide or a hydrolyzed collagen), which makes the particle sizes smaller and therefore easier to digest. However, this does not necessarily mean these collagen supplements are better absorbed. Also, collagen supplements are highly processed and often treated with enzymes, solvents and acids in order to make them into peptides. We have seen a body of research that demonstrates that collagen from bone broth in its most natural form is the best for bioavailability.
