Why is bone broth protein better than whey protein?Updated a year ago

Bone broth is made using a simple, traditional recipe, in which animal bones are simmered for up to 24 hours into a protein-packed broth. Meanwhile, whey protein goes through extensive processing, using acids and chemicals to extract the protein.

Here are some more reasons why bone broth protein is better for you:

  • Bone broth protein is nutrient-dense, and packed with collagen and essential amino acids. These nutrients have been shown to support skin, joint, immune and gut health.

  • Bone broth protein is dairy-free and suitable for those with a lactose intolerance. Whey protein is derived from dairy.

  • Bone broth protein has been shown to support digestion. For those with gut issues, bone broth is less harsh on the GI tract and actually supports gut healing and sealing the gut lining.

  • Bone broth can support liver health. Glycine is abundant in bone broth. It has been shown to support liver function.

  • Bone broth protein is a more complete protein and more easily absorbed into the body.

  • Cleaner ingredients. Bone broth contains none of the artificial sweeteners, gums, or colorings that are typically added to whey. Bone broth is a clean, wholefood-based protein source.

Note that whey protein does offer faster absorption, which benefits peri/post workout recovery specifically. Otherwise, for overall health goals, bone broth protein can be a better choice for many.
